HOUSES & HIDE-OUTS
Ferrets are close cousins to otters, minks, and badgers - so they are not rodents. They have been kept as pets for thousands of years, and some believe the Egyptians kept ferrets before they kept the domestic cat! Aristotle wrote about ferrets, and Caesar used them for hunting. In fact, ferrets are the third most popular pet in the United States behind the dog and cat. There are several nicknames for ferrets which include fuzzies, weasels, carpet sharks, ferts, and fweasels. Ferrets are very curious and extremely playful. Whether it's playing with their Bounce Back Toy, your smelly socks, or hiding in their Comf-E-Cube, ferrets are always having fun. You can even take your ferret along for an outdoor adventure on a Comfort Harness and Stretchy Stroller Leash. Besides being fun loving, ferrets are incredibly intelligent. Ferrets can be potty trained and actually use a Hi-Corner Litter Box. They can also figure out faulty locks so make sure their home is closed properly. Ironically, when ferrets aren't displaying their seemingly limitless energy, they are the heaviest of sleepers. Some ferrets sleep so heavily that they can be passed around a room without being woken up! Some people have even thought their ferret was sick or dying because they couldn't wake it up. They rushed to the vet only to have the ferret wake up in the seat next to them and start playing. Pet ferrets live between 6-8 years, but with great care, you could be having fun with your fuzzy carpet shark for over 10 years.
